The Essex Protestant Council
What does the EPC stand for?

The Essex Protestant Council stands foursquare on the fundamentals of the Christian faith, believing that:

  • Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as set forth in the Bible alone.
  • The Holy Bible in its enirety, is the inerrant Word of God which is eternal and cannot change. It is the sole authority in all matters of Christian faith, doctrine and practice.
  • The Christian has a responsibility to bear witness to the truth of God's Word and to oppose all that is contrary to it.
  • A resolute stand must be taken against counterfeit Christianity, as typified by the Church of Rome
  • Liberalism, modernism, false ecumenism, the so-called charismatic movement and all pseudo-Christian sects are likewise rejected as being contrary to God's Word.
  • There is a Biblical injunction to seperate from all such error. The suggestion that a faithful testimony can be made from a position of compromise is repudiated.
  • Islam, eastern religion, paganism, spirit(ual)ism, the occult, and idolatry are also contrary to God's Word, and incompatible with Biblical Christianity.
  • Multi-faith services of worship are a shameful denial of the unique position of the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour, and the only Mediator for His people.
  • The witness to Truth should be spoken in love, but never in subservience to the fear and favour of men.
As the Lord enables, the Essex Protestant Council endeavours to expose the false, to exhort the fainthearted, and to encourage the faithful; according to His Word.

"We preach not ourselves,
but Christ Jesus the Lord"

2 Corinthians 4:5 (A.V)

The council maintains that the Authorised Version is the most faithful translation of the Bible in the English language.
